1/4cupvegetable oilfor frying (skip if air-frying)
1/4cupsweet chili sauce or soy dipping saucefor serving
Instructions
Press the Tofu: Drain tofu block and press with a tofu press or wrap in paper towels and place a heavy object on top for 15–20 minutes to remove excess moisture.
Cut the Tofu: Slice tofu into bite-sized cubes (about 1 inch).
Marinate: In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add tofu cubes and toss gently. Let marinate for at least 10 minutes.
Coat in Cornstarch: Sprinkle cornstarch over marinated tofu. Toss lightly until all pieces are coated for extra crispiness.
Cook the Tofu: For pan-frying, heat vegetable oil in a skillet and fry tofu on each side until golden brown (about 6–8 minutes). For air-frying, place tofu cubes in a single layer and air-fry at 400°F (200°C) for 15 minutes, shaking halfway through.
Serve: Transfer crispy tofu bites to a serving plate. Serve hot with sweet chili sauce, soy dipping sauce, or sriracha mayo.
Notes
🔹 Press tofu well – moisture is the enemy of crispiness.🔹 Air-frying is a healthier option with less oil but still super crispy.🔹 Try tossing cooked tofu bites in buffalo sauce or teriyaki glaze for variety.🔹 Great for topping grain bowls, salads, or serving as finger food.
